David Young, MD

Dr. Young was the founder of ARIUS Research Inc., a biotechnology company which was publicly traded on the TSX. Dr. Young was CEO of ARIUS from its inception in 1999 until the successful sale of the company to F. Hoffman-La Roche (“Roche”) of Switzerland in 2008 for $200 million. At ARIUS, he was responsible for the scientific operations of the company as well as general management of the company. He did his surgical and science training at the University of Toronto, where he received over 15 scholarships or awards.

He is the inventor or author on over 200 patents or scientific papers. He is a recognized entrepreneur and received the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs (2008) and was a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition (2007). He is currently the Chairman of the board of directors of The Ontario Biosciences Industry Organization, a non-profit biotech industry group, of MabNet, a NSERC Strategic Network and co-chairs the Collaborative Health Research Projects selection committee, a joint funding program of NSERC and CIHR.
 
Helen Findlay

Ms. Findlay is an executive with over 20 years experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer at ARIUS, she was responsible for business development activities valued at over $400 million and for overseeing operations in the company. Her background in both science and business has brought key strategic insight and management capabilities to both established and start-up companies. She has managed a profitable pharmaceutical marketing consulting business, been named as a finalist in the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards, and is an inventor on over 115 patents. Ms. Findlay currently is a director of the Argonaut Rowing Club, a founding Director of OBIO and holds Director positions in charitable and arts organizations.
 
Catherine Auld, CA

Catherine Auld, CA has over 9 years of public and private biotech experience and is currently a financial consultant to a number of companies in the industry. Ms. Auld has had responsibility for public company reporting as well as initial public offerings, financing, licensing and partnership activities. She has played a major role in several private and public financing rounds, technology deals and company acquisitions totaling over $350M. Ms. Auld is currently consulting within the biotech industry and is the part-time Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) of BioSyntech Inc. Previously, Ms. Auld was the CFO for NeuroMedix Inc., Transition Therapeutics Inc. and PreMD Inc.; Interim Chief Financial Officer for ARIUS; and Vice President of Finance for Cervelo Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Prior to working in the biotechnology industry, Ms. Auld was a senior manager with KPMG LLP.
 
Kamal Gautam

Kamal Gautam, BSc, MBA has over 15 years of experience in commercialization and product development in the biotechnology and software industries. Most recently, he was President & CEO of BioQuest Innovations Inc., a private biotech company, and has been the founding CEO of NeuroMedix Inc., AIM Therapeutics Inc., Cascade Therapeutics Inc. and Envoy Therapeutics Inc. He has led or played a major role in several private and public financing rounds, technology deals and company acquisitions totaling over $200M. Mr. Gautam has negotiated license agreements, CRO and CMO contracts, and institutional agreements. His prior experience includes consulting with major clients in the financial services sector, and development and marketing with a software start-up company.
